    Osvaldo Vitali serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Lyles School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University. To date, he has published over 30 articles and possesses more than 15 years of experience in geotechnical-structural design, focusing on projects like tunnels, underground structures, and earth-retaining systems. Dr. Vitali's research interests include tunneling and underground structures, the interaction between various geotechnical structures (such as tunnels, deep excavations, and foundations) in urban environments, and the application of geomechanics in renewable energy.
