Hello! I'm Luis J. Vila, PhD, P.E., and I've been steering the course of structural engineering at GM2 Associates, Inc. in Hartford, CT, for close to a decade now.
My journey in this field has been a blend of academic rigor and practical prowess, marked by a commitment to excellence in everything I do.
With a Doctorate and a Master's degree in Applied Mechanics and Structural Engineering, respectively, from the University of Connecticut and a foundational degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, my educational background combined with my professional experience have given me the tools to thrive in this field.

Throughout my career at GM2 Associates, I’ve had the opportunity to grow and evolve from my initial role as a Structural Engineer to a Senior Structural Engineer, allowing me to share my knowledge and mentor other engineers. My expertise lies in the design, modeling, and analysis of diverse bridge types - be it complex steel bridges, arch, or prestressed concrete, each project has been a new adventure.

Beyond the confines of GM2, I've been an active participant in the MIDASoft, Inc. community, contributing as a MIDAS Expert and Elite Engineer. My time as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Connecticut, and the opportunity to conduct technical seminars/webinars, further honed my skills and allowed me to give back to the academic community that shaped me.

I believe in the importance of continuous learning, mentorship and strong leadership and truly enjoy sharing my knowledge with others.
